Billboard & Hoarding Rates in India

Every figure on this page is calculated from hoardings currently live on HoardSpace — not an industry benchmark and not an estimate. Where there isn't enough inventory to describe a market honestly, this page says so instead of publishing a number.

What drives the price of a hoarding

Outdoor media is priced per site, and the spread is wide because the thing being sold is attention rather than surface area. Understanding which levers actually move the rate is what turns a quote into something you can evaluate:

  • City, and the specific road or junction within it
  • Display size in square feet
  • Angle of approach — head-on sites are read for longer than parallel ones
  • Lighting: non-lit, front-lit or back-lit
  • Booking duration and the season it falls in
  • Printing and mounting, charged separately on static media

A useful way to normalise two quotes is rate per square foot per month — but treat it as a starting point, not a verdict. A cheaper per-square-foot rate on a site facing away from traffic is not the better buy.

Rates by media format

Monthly rates across live HoardSpace inventory, grouped by media format. Formats with too few listings to describe a range are omitted rather than estimated.

Getting a rate for a specific site

Every listing publishes its own monthly rate, so the fastest route to a real number is to open the inventory for your city and look. Where a campaign spans several sites, the compare view puts the candidates side by side with size and rate together, which is where the per-square-foot arithmetic becomes obvious.

If you would rather describe the brief and have options come back to you, get in touch with the city, the dates and the budget you are working to.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a billboard cost per month in India?
There is no single national rate, and any page quoting one is guessing. Monthly cost is set by the city, the specific road or junction, the display's size in square feet, whether it is lit, and the booking duration. The bands on this page are calculated from listings currently live on HoardSpace, so they describe real inventory rather than an industry estimate — but the honest answer to 'what will my site cost' is the rate published on that site's own listing.
Why do two hoardings of the same size cost very different amounts?
Because you are buying attention, not square footage. A site facing traffic head-on at a junction where vehicles slow down is worth several times one of identical size parallel to a fast road, where it is only seen edge-on. Obstruction from trees or flyovers, lighting, and how many other displays compete on the same stretch all move the price for the same physical size.
Are printing and mounting included in the rate?
No. On static hoardings the monthly rate covers the site; printing the flex and mounting it are billed separately, because they scale with the display's size and are a one-time cost per creative rather than a recurring one. Digital screens and transit media do not carry these charges — no printed media is produced for them.
Is it cheaper to book a hoarding for several months?
Longer bookings are generally the better value per month, since the site's setup cost is spread across a longer run and the printing charge is paid once rather than repeatedly. Listings state a minimum booking period where the media owner sets one.
How do I compare rates between two sites fairly?
Reduce both to a rate per square foot per month, then adjust for the things that rate does not capture: lighting, the angle of approach, and how cluttered the stretch is. HoardSpace publishes size and monthly rate on every listing, and the compare view puts candidate sites side by side so the arithmetic is visible rather than assumed.

  • Do rates change through the year?
Demand does. Festival periods and major local events tighten availability on prime sites, and inventory that is committed early is not available at any price. The practical implication is less about discounts than about timing — if your campaign depends on a specific site, availability is the constraint worth checking first.
